Picocom licenses compliant 5G NR and LTE carrier grade PHY software and support, which conform to the required 3GPP, O-RAN Alliance and Small Cell Forum (SCF) FAPI specifications, for the PC802 and PC805 devices.
Full PHY, high PHY and low PHY build variants are available depending on the application requirements.
Picocom software is available to licence as either binary or source code.
5G NR PHY Software
Picocom’s 5G NR PHY Software includes builds for both full PHY and high PHY running on the PC802 for the following integrated and disaggregated RAN use cases:
- Full PHY supporting full gNB, split 2 small cell and split 6, including dual mode NR/LTE
- High PHY supporting split 7.2x O-RAN Distributed Units (O-DU)
It includes Open RAN SCF FAPI, O-RAN Open Fronthaul and JESD204B interface support.
5G NR RU Software
Picocom’s O-RAN Alliance compliant 5G NR RU Software provides the low PHY and supports O-RU use cases on the PC802 and PC805. It conforms to the relevant 3GPP and O-RAN Alliance specifications. The software includes complete GNSS, PTP and SyncE timing solutions.
The PC805 can optionally support both DPD and CFR. A Linux image is supplied for use with the PC805, which enables the operation of its integrated processor, used to load the PHY image and can be used to terminate the Open Fronthaul M and S-planes.
LTE PHY Software
Picocom’s LTE PHY software is currently a full LTE PHY, with a SCF FAPI interface for communication with the L2 software and a JESD204B interface to the RF transceivers. Versions that support the high PHY, low PHY and Open Fronthaul are planned.
DUAL MODE Software
Picocom’s dual mode software combines a full 5G NR and full LTE PHY with the ability to run concurrently on a single PC802 device. It includes SCF FAPI interfaces for communication with the L2 software, and JESD204B interface to the RF transceivers. Versions that support the high PHY, low PHY and Open Fronthaul are planned.
