This was followed by a discussion with Sean Kinney, Editor-in-Chief of RCR Wireless News, on ‘The ongoing evolution of Open RAN – Picocom’s perspective.’ They discuss Open RAN technology and market trends. With significant (and growing) interest from major brownfield operators, Open RAN is set to ramp through the decade as it can deliver lower TCO and opportunity for RAN innovation.

During the event, Sean Kinney also spoke with Picocom President Peter Claydon on ‘In-line vs. look-aside acceleration for Open RAN silicon.‘ As the Open RAN market continues to mature and evolve, there’s a growing debate around whether in-line or look-aside acceleration is better suited for Layer 1 processing. In this interview, Peter Claydon frames out the debate and makes the case for Picocom’s approach.
