Sue Monahan, SCF CEO, said: “This new category for Women in Wireless is very close to my heart, it is so important that we champion women in technology. The winners in this category were from diverse areas across the industry, all working in different roles, but all were driving innovation in their areas and inspiring others. I would like to congratulate them on their award.”

“Having led Picocom’s product definition work and the company’s SCF activities for over four years, it is fantastic to see the growing visibility of women in the wireless industry, and to have a platform such as this to celebrate their achievements,” said Vicky Messer, VP of Product Management at Picocom.

“I am delighted and honoured to have received this award, and look forward to continuing to promote and champion the work of women throughout the telco ecosystem.”

A new category for 2023, the SCF Women in Wireless Award recognises significant technical, commercial or strategic contributions to accelerating the development and deployment of agile, low-cost and sustainable small network infrastructure, by individual women, or by organizations that enable and empower the contribution of women.

Since joining Picocom, Vicky has actively contributed to the Small Cell Forum and coordinated specialist inputs from Picocom staff on specific work items such as the SCF FAPI specifications. She was the lead co-author of a paper on small cell architectures and authored the SCF FAPI Network Monitor Mode updates for 5G. Vicky also co-authored a test paper in 2021 with a specialist from Keysight. During this time, she has frequently presented at SCF public and member-only events and joined the SCF board in September 2022.
