SoCs
The PC802 is a purpose-designed PHY SoC for 5GNR/LTE small cell disaggregated and integrated RAN architectures, and includes support for industry-leading Open RAN specifications. The SoC interfaces with a layer 2/3 stack via the SCF FAPI interface over PCIe. The PC802 supports seamless interfacing to Radio Units (O-RU) via the O-RAN Open Fronthaul eCPRI interface, or directly to RFICs with a standardised JESD204B high-speed serial interface.
Boards
There are three boards available for the PC802 SoC to support different tests and use cases:
- PC802SCB Small Cell Board
- PC802EVB Evaluation Board
- ORANIC – In-line PHY and NIC for O-DU
- 5G O-RAN Small Cell Outdoor Radio Reference Design (Texas Instruments PCM-3P-PC802)
Schematics and example layouts are available for each board, and each is provided with a Board Support Package and application demo software.
Software
Picocom licenses 3GPP compliant 5G NR and LTE carrier grade PHY software and support for the PC802 device. The software also meets the relevant Open RAN O-RAN Alliance and SCF FAPI specifications. Both binary and source code licence options are available. Picocom maintains a software feature roadmap based on customers’ requirements, which can be shared under NDA.
